FAIRFAX, VA (December, 2004) ? Financial advisor and bestselling author Ric Edelman announced today he is offering prison libraries nationwide a free copy of his book, "The Truth About Money" as part of his efforts to improve financial literacy. More than eight hundred prison libraries across the country will receive the offer from Mr. Edelman early next week.
"This book is an indispensable tool for learning how to succeed financially and in life," says Edelman. "Many current inmates will eventually return to society, and we want them and their families to be better prepared for success."
One of the most recognized books on personal finance, "The Truth About Money" is fully revised and updated in this new 3rd edition. The book was named "Book of the Year" by Small Press magazine when first published in 1997, and it was a national bestseller for 70 weeks.
A long-time educator in helping people achieve their financial goals, Edelman now leads his financial literacy efforts through his non-profit organization, the Edelman Center for Personal Finance Education. For nine years, he taught personal finance at Georgetown University. He also has testified before Congress and provided services to many agencies within the federal government, including serving as a delegate to the 1998 and 2002 National Summits on Retirement Savings. He is a state- and AICPA-approved instructor for continuing professional education. He is also a member of the NASD Board of Arbitrators.
Ric Edelman is the author of five books on personal finance including The Truth About Money and Ordinary People, Extraordinary Wealth.
